Licensing & Compliance Officer (Maternity Cover)
Fixed term 8-10 months

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Licensing & Compliance Officer to join our busy Licensing Team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring businesses and individuals across the district comply with licensing laws — from taxis and alcohol to animal welfare, street trading, and more.
You’ll process applications, carry out inspections, investigate complaints, and provide professional advice to applicants, councillors, and partner agencies. You’ll also prepare reports and may attend Licensing Committees or court when needed.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in licensing, enforcement, or a regulatory environment
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Confidence to make sound decisions and manage challenging situations
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends
- Relevant qualification (e.g. Ofqual Level 3 in Animal Licensing)
Desirable: experience using Idox Uniform.
