Communications and marketing assistant

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with lots of creative ideas, to join our small and busy communications team in a new role as communications and marketing assistant on an 18 month fixed term contract.
Do you have a passion for creating innovative and engaging content which can reach a wide and diverse audience? Do you have a flair for writing in a way that is exciting and accessible for a number of existing and developing communication channels?
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this new role. The postholder will support the team by writing copy for newsletters, creating and monitoring content for our social media profiles and assisting with collating information for media enquiries.
The postholder will help to monitor and evaluate our communications and marketing activity and suggest potential opportunities and improvements. They will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of a wide range of communication channels and tools.
Our council’s vision for the next ten years is to work with our communities to build a future for the people of Harborough district that gives them the best life chances and opportunities. The successful candidate will support the delivery of this vision with the promotion of council services and initiatives in line with the council’s priorities and help to protect and enhance the reputation of the council.
The candidate’s good organisational skills and ability to prioritise and adapt to quickly changing priorities in this fast-paced team will be essential, as will their ability to demonstrate political awareness, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
The ability to quickly understand and interpret information relating to a wide range of subject matter and work under their own initiative, under pressure and to deadlines is essential.
The council has an agile working policy and the postholder will mainly work from home with some time in the office in Market Harborough.
The postholder may be required to attend evening events or meetings occasionally, with notice.
