Harborough District Council’s vision is to work with communities in a vibrant, safe and prosperous district and to bring the best opportunities to all. The Council is supporting under represented communities in Market Harborough to be represented through Neighbourhood Planning by setting up a number of Neighbourhood Forums and delivering successful Neighbourhood Plans.

The Council is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced, proactive and enthusiastic person on a temporary basis for 12 months to work with, support and lead communities in Market Harborough. The aim of the role will be to set up Neighbourhood Forums and work towards delivering Neighbourhood Planning for the Town. 

The successful candidate will devise and deliver engagement activities and consultation events using a variety of techniques. They will consult with a wide cross section of the community and other stakeholders, evaluate and report results of consultation to support delivery of successful Neighbourhood Planning in Market Harborough and identify how delivering Neighbourhood Planning might be simplified for communities.

The successful candidate will possess a relevant degree/diploma or be experienced in community engagement and consultation for leisure or planning. They will have excellent communication and written skills, be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team to successfully achieve objectives. Remote working is available.

There may be a requirement to attend evening meetings and a full driving licence and use of a car is essential. Clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required for this post at a basic level.
