Business Administrator Apprentice in Elections and Land Charges Level 3

Are you a well organised and motivated individual looking to gain experience in administration and local government? Do you want to gain experience in an interesting and dynamic service which supports the County's democratic processes and decision making? If the answer is yes to all these questions, then we would like to hear from you.
We have a vacancy for a Level 3 Business Administrator apprentice working in the Elections and Local Land Charges Team who work together to provide two key services:
Elections – the Team deal with registering electors to vote, process people moving between properties as well as changes to their details. We also organise all elections including all General Elections and referendums within Harborough District.
The council are required to maintain what is known as a ‘register of electors’ – this is a list of people who are eligible to vote in upcoming elections. The elections team maintain the register of electors which includes adding new people and processing any changes such as change of contact details or address. The team also organise and carry out the elections to ensure that they are compliant with the law and that all eligible voters can submit their vote in confidence.
Local Land Charges - when a property is sold the buyers have ‘searches’ carried out on the property to check information which could affect it such as planning, Highways, Housing, Building Control, these are requested by Solicitors on behalf of the buyers.
When a property is sold, people buying the property use solicitors to carry out ‘searches’ which identify any potential issues that may have an impact on completing the purchase – this includes information such as planning consents, building control consents and potential issues with public roads and footpaths.
Our apprentice will learn and develop knowledge to support both the elections and local land charge services.
The successful apprentice will be supporting the team in a fast-paced environment to deliver efficient and compliant elections - this will allow them to gain lots of knowledge about the electoral service and democratic processes as well as developing personal skills such as time management and task prioritisation. They will also learn about the local land charge service and how this forms part of the wider process of buying and selling properties within the UK.
